Joyce DeWitt was raised as a child in her hometown of the Indianapolis suburb of Speedway. Joyce has Italian descendant from her mother, and Dutch heritage through her father. While attending Speedway Senior High School, she had a job as a side-job in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway ticket office.DeWitt began to develop an interest in acting as she participated in speech and debate events with the Indiana High School Forensic Association. She made her first performance on stage at the age of 13 and was captivated by acting right away. DeWitt obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Theater from Ball State University, and later relocated to California to pursue a profession as an actor.
